NOTICE TO OUR PATRONS:
Dunes Arts Foundation is in trouble. For a variety of reasons we've been operating at a loss for the last few seasons. This is unfortunate and embarrassing, and it has now caught up with us.
We can't afford to open the theater and continue with plans for this season's shows: Spring Awakening, Annie, and the planned Jesus Christ Superstar. I regret to make this clear: the board has cancelled our present plans for the 2014 summer season!
But... all is not lost. We are still moving forward with several (fun?) fundraisers. We hope to raise money, as well as keep community momentum going for the theater. By community I mean YOU! We are also considering plans to do one big show without paid staff. (Any member comp tickets will be honored this summer and next.)
We have in the past run Jesus Christ Superstar with great response, both from the audiences and those involved with the show. We are presently lining up support, both financial and the personnel needed, including George Maslankowski to direct, for this show. We hope to present Christ Superstar in July to "Save the Dunes", if you will. We're hoping to recapture the spirit and inspiration for this show that we've had in the past. Much of this show is in place, but it's not a done deal yet. I repeat, these plans are not set in concrete yet.... but decisions will be finalized soon.
In a case like this it's hard to say that any answer is the right one. Though this decision will cause some disappointment we're asking for everyone's support. Stay tuned.....
